Reiki Q&A with Third Eye Artistry!
Hey y’all! So this blog is going to be a little different than what I’ve done before. Instead of educating you guys on things that I know about, I wanted to learn with you! For this Q&A, I contacted my friend Tina // Third Eye Artistry to tell me some things about Reiki!
Tina is a super talented chick who owns Third Eye Artistry. Not only is she a Reiki Healer, she does Hair & Makeup and takes amazing pictures as a Photographer! I’ve gotten the chance to work with her before and I always look forward to working with her again. She is a super sweet soul and was nice enough to answer some questions about Reiki for this blog, and I’m so excited to get into it! So get comfy and read our interview below!
Hey Tina! What is Reiki, in your terms?
Reiki is a form of energy healing. Although derived in Japan it is accessible all over the world.
It allows you to become a channel for healing light. Once the session has begun you begin guiding this universal life force to your client. Working down the main energy points (Chakras) and clearing away any energy not serving them. You will feel resistance in certain areas, to which you will spend more time on that area, dissolving blocks and reigniting that center.
It can relieve ailments, illnesses, anxiety, depression, aches and pains. Reiki has so many benefits and other beautiful things involved. Reiki is great for ANYONE. All I ask is that you are open to receiving and open to shifting your life!
How did you get interested in the practice?
I was in a weird/not so good place in my life. I was letting everything outside me destroy me internally (Deep stuff I know, but I am here to share my journey!) My friend I met through work is a healer/medium and I knew when I got to a certain point, I needed help. I am not a fan of medication and big Pharma so I decided I wanted to try a holistic route. EVERYTHING CHANGED. I started with multiple sessions per month and noticed a huge difference. I tapped into parts of myself that were new and parts of myself that I closed off when I took harder paths in life. I grew up in a very spiritual household. Practicing and celebrating our Native American roots. As child I was tuned in and unfortunately lost my way for a while. Reiki brought me back to my heritage along with my healing.
How did you study to be a Reiki healer?
I studied under my friend who I was getting sessions with. I am currently a Reiki Master and taking a quantum reiki class next week!
They offer courses online but I think that this is something that should be done in person. There is normal lecture like any class but there is the attunment ceremony that I feel is a raw moment and should be treated with care, best done in person.
Do you have a routine before or after sessions to prepare yourself for the session/ decompress from it? I’m sure it can take a toll on your own energy!
Great Question! I sage the treatment room, table while I pray. I ask that the room be cleared and that people find sanctuary when they arrive. I have a candle lit every time. I always take a moment to meditate, clear myself, and I sometimes call my spirit guides if needed.
There are symbols you learn during your training so I utilize those throughout my room and on my tools.
When we are finishing I clear the room once more, thank the energy and source. I hydrate and sometimes meditate. Every session is different so every need is different before and after a session.
Did you always know that'd you'd be a healer of some sort?
Yes! even though I forgot for a while haha I knew when I was young I was tuned in to something greater. I could "feel" certain things. I had an intuition that scared the shit out of me and experiences that made me question if I was dreaming!
I have always been a people pleaser and now I have found a way to do that while taking care of myself! but I found a paper from when I was in elementary school of things I wanted to do when I grew up and in reality they were all healer goals! it was wild!
What can your clients expect in a session and/or afterwards?
Everyone session is different. But some similarities would be:
We start with a chat about what's going on, what they would like to work on, each session includes life coaching, they may experience warm, tingling throughout their body. Depending on where they are in their journey, they may experience visions, meeting guides or even just seeing colors while their eyes are closed. once the energy work has been completed we will finish with a discussion about what was seen or experienced followed with suggestions on how to move forward in life! its truly exhilarating for those who embrace it.
What is the most rewarding part of what you do?
Helping people! We have all felt alone in our pain and struggles. I have been through a lot in my 29 years and coming from a place of understanding rather than a place of judgment is a gift I try to give each person. Being able to resonate with others so that they feel heard, felt and loved is the best gift!
Do you have advice for anyone who is interested in becoming a Reiki healer?
Start by receiving sessions. You want to gain the knowledge as a client before becoming a healer in my opinion. Also be intuitive about who you choose as a teacher. don't just look for the lowest price. this is a precious and sacred practice. Find a teacher that you resonate with, that INSPIRES you!
What are some of your own spiritual practices? I see you do yoga a lot! Do you meditate, use visualization, manifestation, etc?
Yoga took a while for me. Not just the poses but allowing it to click with me spritually. I was so concerned at first with "am I doing this right, what does this look like, am I bendy, do I look like I know what im doing" only to realize that yoga is meditation in movement. Really focusing in on connecting my breath. challenging myself. Realizing that the tightness in my body is coordinated with energy blockages. It gave me a new way to work through and dissolve my blocks. It gives me time to go inward. I don't go to yoga for a physical workout. I actually dislike high power flows, I think it takes away from what the practice is about. If you're going to yoga just to try and lose weight or get fit, shift your perspective because it is so much more than that. I could go on for days about the similarities between yoga and inner growth. I highly recommend "On Yoga" documentary on Netflix.
Meditation is life! It always expands my practice. I am human and I fall away from time to time but I can always tell when I've strayed. Meditation is a way to tap into your power. go deeper within yourself. Reach guides. Meditation can be for what ever you want it to and will only go as deep as you allow. It will change your life.
I visualize and journal to manifest. Girl I do all the things! haha Self growth is what allows me to grow as a healer so I use what ever tools work for me.
What other services do you offer?
I am a photographer here in Delaware and also offer onsite hair and makeup services for events!
